One of the greatest needs for those who have been trafficked is a home. They come out of the life and don't have anywhere to go and they need a HOME that will provide hope, healing and renewal. At Bikers Against Trafficking we provide housing through out partnership with the Alan Madden Foundation and our 4 BAT houses and 7 apartments, which is located in Central Florida. At present we are able to provide for 370.
Our model is to utilize existing homes. We find partners who will open up their home and allow one person to live there. We provide resources, training, background checks and clinical trauma counseling and utilize a network of mentors and volunteers. It is remarkable because everyone needs a home and a place to "be." We are fortunate to work with the Alan Madden Foundation, Family4Today and Sojourners Recovery and Wellness Center as well as many churches and volunteers to be a part of this miracle.
Healing Place is our passion. BAT was started to help eradicate human sex trafficking but we have always known that there is a shortage of housing for those coming out of the life. Many call us regularly and it is our goal to find a place for each person. We have helped place individuals throughout Florida and even as far as California. We are constantly on the lookout for partnerships and places.
Every $400 raised allows us to place another kid or young adult.
Each person who comes to us becomes part of our family and we provide education, clinical trauma informed counseling (through our partnership with Family4Today, Inc., ), job training/coaching as well as job placement. We have helped support some as they went through court battles and also provide all necessary addiction counseling and in the case of many that we have helped: medical and dental assistance as well. Each person we partner with can stay as long as needed and the minute we are contacted we move into action. There is no waiting or vetting period as we believe those who reach out need help NOW. All of our Chapters are hands on and provide as many services as they can. We are honored to be part of such a humble group!
Each person who volunteers with Bikers Against Trafficking goes through an extensive federal background check and we provide ongoing training. No one on our team takes any money for any personal needs as every dollar raised goes to direct client care. We operate on a lean basis but as a result we have gotten to help many individuals.
If you want to get involved in our Healing Place project please get in touch with us today. We are looking for families who want to open up their home, individuals who want to volunteer their skills or mentor. We also appreciate all who pray for us and who contribute financially.
